ATPESC provides training on the key skills and tools needed to use the world’s most powerful supercomputers for scientific research.
The call for applications for the annual Argonne Training Program on Extreme-Scale Computing (ATPESC) is now open through March 5, 2025.
Aimed at graduate students, postdocs, and computational scientists, the annual two-week program will be held July 27 to August 8, 2025, at the Q Center in St. Charles, Illinois. ATPESC is hosted by the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Argonne National Laboratory and organized by staff at the Argonne Leadership Computing Facility (ALCF).
The intensive, hands-on program equips attendees with the high-performance computing (HPC) tools and techniques needed to use the world’s most powerful supercomputers for scientific research, enabling them to apply large-scale simulations, AI, and data analysis to accelerate discoveries and innovation. Since its launch in 2013, ATPESC has trained over 800 attendees from across the world.
Taught by leading HPC and AI experts, the core curriculum will cover computer architectures, numerical algorithms and mathematical software, software productivity and sustainability, data analysis, visualization, I/O and methodologies for big data applications, performance measurement and debugging tools, machine learning and data science. ATPESC participants will have access to DOE’s leadership-class systems at the ALCF, Oak Ridge Leadership Computing Facility and the National Energy Research Scientific Computing Center.
There are no fees to participate in ATPESC. Domestic airfare, meals, and lodging are also provided.
